Pearlescent pigments (pearl pigment) are a special type of pigment. It falls into a similar category as fluorescent and phosphorescent pigments. Pearlescent pigment has many different products according to the color and size. The size of the particle may affect the pearl shine; Bigger the particle is, stronger the shine of the pearl, weaker the power of shade is; smaller the particle is, the shine of the pearl is like silk, and having stronger power of shade.

The shine of pearl is produced by mulriple reflection of light. So the pearlescent pigment being mixed with more transparent material, there can has more beautiful pearl shine. The pearlescent pigment also can have suitable light that mixed by transparent pigment or dye. That should avoid mixed with opaque element or the pigment that has better coverage together, such as titanium dioxide and ferric oxide, so that will not affect the pearl shine. Color pearlescent pigment can produce all kinds of particular shines according to the principle of color mix.

Being add right carbon black, the pearlescent pigment can has good metallic shine. There can has argent shine when the white pearlescent pigment being add 0.01% carbon black. There can has different effects by adjusting the content of carbon black properly
